PLA is polyatic acid,That is a new polymer fiber raw material obtained from corn starch through bacterial fermentation and chemical synthesis. The nonwovens made of biodegradable fiber raw materials will gradually decompose into carbon dioxide and water under the action of enzymes, microorganisms, acids, alkalis and water when placed in the natural environment, and eventually disappear.
As polylactic acid is a bio renewable raw material, its manufacturing process produces less greenhouse gases than other polymers. Therefore, polylactic acid is a new environmental protection material, which has no pollution to the environment.
Types of polylactic acid
According to the molecular structure of polylactic acid, it is often divided into left-handed polylactic acid (PLLA), right-handed polylactic acid (pdla) and racemic polylactic acid (PLLA), which have crystallinity and high melting point (about 175 ℃), and are generally used to spin fibers and nonwovens.
Polylactic acid not only has the characteristics of good strength, chemical inertia and easy processing, but also has excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability. Polylactic acid is degraded by hydrolysis. The low polymer produced by hydrolysis will eventually produce water and carbon dioxide under the metabolic action of microorganisms, which will not cause secondary pollution to the environment,
Polylactic acid is a light yellow or transparent polymer. It is a thermoplastic polymer material. Its properties are similar to polystyrene (PS) and polyester (PET). Conventional melt spinning equipment (such as spunbonded method and melt blown method production system) can be used to produce polylactic acid nonwovens.
Characteristics of polylactic acid nonwovens, (1) polylactic acid waste can be decomposed in the natural environment, and there is no toxic gas when it is burned. In addition, it can also be composted, which has no pollution to the environment.
In addition, the carbon dioxide produced by its decomposition can be reused through plant photosynthesis to produce starch. It is a kind of pollution-free natural recycling material.
