SMS composite nonwovens are also manufactured using the melt spinning mesh process, which consists of multiple layers of fibers with different properties.

The surface layer (can be multi-layer) and the bottom layer (can be multi-layer) are spunbond fiber net (S), and the middle layer (can be multi-layer) is melt-blown fiber net (M), which is superimposed together in a "sandwich" way.

The spunbond and melt-blown spinning systems of the SMS line operate in a similar manner to stand-alone systems.

However, due to the influence of upstream system's fiber network, the operation parameters of the fan will be different from that of the independent system.In addition, SMS production line "DCD" refers to the distance between the die head and the screen curtain, that is, the adjustment method of receiving distance, and the "offline movement" method will be different from independent system.

There are many production methods of SMS composite nonwovens, including: "one-step" SMS composite nonwovens production process; "Two-step" SMS composite nonwovens production process."

The difference between "one-step" and "two-step" composite process:

The "one-step" SMS composite nonwovens production process is also known as "in-line compounding" or net compounding process by spinning directly from melt.

"Two step" SMS composite nonwovens production process or "one and a half step" SMS composite nonwovens production process are "off-line composite" process.

Unless otherwise specified, SMS processes are generally referred to as one-step SMS composite nonwovens and SMS composite nonwovens are generally referred to as products consisting of three or more layers of fiber mesh.
