Understanding the SSMS Non woven fabric and it use  

‘SSMS’ (Spunbond x 2 – Meltblown x Spunbond) C is a 4 layered 100% Polypropylene non woven fabric manufactured using 4 beams. This fabric offers amazing benefits like fine filtration, low pressure drop, acoustic insulation and decent strength and elongation. SMS or SSMS fabric is widely used in the hygiene or medical industry to make disposable diapers, feminine care products, face masks, surgical drapes, surgical packs, surgical gowns, etc.

Explaining the layers of fabrics

These are the composition of the layers below;

The top layer of SSMS fabric is made of Spun bond non-woven fabric.

The second layer is also made of the same Spun bond non-woven fabric.

The third layer is made of Melt blown non-woven fabric.

The fourth and final layer is made of Spun bond non-woven fabric.

All the four layers are processed together either chemically, thermally, or mechanically and the final result produced a single-layered SSMS non-woven fabric. The production process, which is usually cheap and affordable, is carried out in a number of ways. In one method, the entire process is carried out in a single machine that processes the fabrics simultaneously. Otherwise, the individual layers are subjected to a process that combines the different layers to form a single-layered SSMS non-woven fabric. However, the basic production combines both; the Spun bond and Melt blown manufacturing techniques.
